Climate Change Is an Opportunity to Dramatically Reinvent the Economy – The Atlantic (Tyranny of the mind)

Having been warned in the 1970s about catastrophic global cooling (see, for example, “The Cooling World” 1975; Holcombe 2006), then, soon afterward, about catastrophic global warming, the populace may grow weary of heeding the government’s warnings about the dire consequences of alleged global climate changes—dire unless, of course, the government takes stringent measures to bludgeon the people into doing what “must” be done to avert the foretold disaster.

Fear is a depreciating asset. As Machiavelli observed, “the temper of the multitude is fickle, and…while it is easy to persuade them of a thing, it is hard to fix them in that persuasion”

–Neither Liberty nor Safety: Fear, Ideology, and the Growth of Government (Robert Higgs)

Although this particular manifestation of “the cause” was pitched as a means of remedying “global warming” or (alternately) the “climate crisis,” its demands revealed it to be nothing more than the latest rhetorical disguise to market an otherwise unappealing utopian agenda of control, wealth transfers, and artificial scarcity sold as liberty, equality, and plenty.

Fundamental to the suppression of awareness is controlling the accepted ‘norms’ of academics and mainstream ‘scientists’. You give them a reality song sheet from the first moment they enter the ‘education’ system and you turn and turn the screw as they continue through college and university and into their specialisation of academia, science or medicine.

As Albert Einstein said: ‘The only thing that interferes with my learning is my education.’ You then reward them if they keep to the song sheet with top jobs, titles and prestige and they become the ‘voice’ (your voice) for what is (and isn’t) real and unreal, possible and impossible, sane and insane. They don’t need evidence for what they say – only that unquestioning certainty that the system must know best.

This is passed down to the population as the academic/doctor/scientist must know best when they are only saying what they are because they believe, in the same way, that the system which has indoctrinated them must know best. They are also well aware that to deviate from the system’s norms is to lose their top jobs, titles, prestige and very tidy income thank you very much.

==The Perception Deception – Part One (David Icke)

The greatest global fraud ever perpetrated. It is all about control, centralized institutional bureaucratic power and uniform, transnational coercive authority. The plan was laid down long ago and so far it has worked extraordinarily well.

For more than a decade, Naomi Klein has been calling attention to the invisible, abstract concerns that hide in the shadows of global trade: the exploitation of far-off workers, the environmental destruction, the corruption that contorts political systems. In her latest book, This Changes Everything, Klein tackles the unintended but inevitable consequence of fueling GDP with oil and gas and coal: a destabilized climate.

These days, the prevailing mood in response to climate change seems to be one of despair. It’s too late. The problem is too massive. But Klein sees something else. She sees a possibility: that a more humane economy can be shaped by aggressively combating climate change. I spoke with her about the opportunity to transform society at the precipice of calamity. A lightly edited transcript of our conversation follows.
