Maybe Obama’s Sanctions on Venezuela are Not Really About His “Deep Concern” Over Suppression of Political Rights – The Intercept–Our Nation is dying rapidly before our very eyes–be afraid.

Watch these two movies–if you are a true Patriot of the Real America, the one of our founders visions, the one this nation should be, but are not. Patriotism to a nation as corrupted and deformed by empire, military and economic dominance and the absolute power of financial capital is nothing more than accepting your ultimate slavery and certainly admitting your intellectual abdication.  There are, of course, far more gruesome stories of the United States Fascist Empires direct engagement in the torture and destruction of hundreds of thousands of lives with no differentiation between men, women or children. Now, think of this on a global scale and you have a true picture of your Homeland.

What America’s government does overseas eventually is what America’s government does within its national borders–this is what the founding fathers warned about–the corruption of our very national soul from the loss of our empathy and humanity towards others, first foreign, then domestic, The Chicago “black-site”, the rapidly escalating militarization of our police and the erosion of all things that are core to the defense of our individual freedoms, even how you are allowed to treat your own body, are all the signs of the collapse of American liberty and the eventual arrival of authoritarian tyranny.

I am a patriot and I weep for my country. I am a patriot and I am very, very afraid for the people of this nation and for our children. I am a patriot and I fear for the world, for an empire in collapse is the most dangerous of animals.

Why do they distrust us?

The White House on Monday announced the imposition of new sanctions on various Venezuelan officials, pronouncing itself “deeply concerned by the Venezuelan government’s efforts to escalate intimidation of its political opponents”: deeply concerned. President Obama also, reportedly with a straight face, officially declared that Venezuela poses “an extraordinary threat to the national security” of the U.S. — a declaration necessary to legally justify the sanctions.

Today, one of the Obama administration’s closest allies on the planet, Saudi Arabia, sentenced one of that country’s few independent human rights activists, Mohammed al-Bajad, to 10 years in prison on “terrorism” charges. That is completely consistent with that regime’s systematic and extreme repression, which includes gruesome state beheadings at a record-setting rate, floggings and long prison terms for anti-regime bloggers, executions of those with minority religious views, and exploitation of terror laws to imprison even the mildest regime critics.

Absolutely nobody expects the “deeply concerned” President Obama to impose sanctions on the Saudis — nor on any of the other loyal U.S. allies from Egypt to the UAE whose repression is far worse than Venezuela’s. Perhaps those who actually believe U.S. proclamations about imposing sanctions on Venezuela in objection to suppression of political opposition might spend some time thinking about what accounts for that disparity.

President Obama, who is currently engaged in multiple wars on both the African and Asian continents and is hell-bent on provoking a war in Europe with Russia, is now stepping to the very brink of war in South America, against Venezuela. On Monday, Obama declared a state of national emergency [6] to justify freezing the assets of 7 Venezuelan officials that the U.S. claims are involved in human rights violations.

In order to comply with U.S. law, Obama asserted that Venezuela represents a threat the national security of the United States. The White House pretended that the scary language was just a legal technicality, and does not mean that the president actually believes Venezuela is about to do harm to the United States. However, Obama is invoking the same language and law against Venezuela that was used against Syria and Iran, leading to Syria’s near destruction by the U.S. and its allies and proxies, and to vicious sanctions and a state of near-war with Iran. Venezuela has every reason to fear that Obama’s executive order might be a prelude to military attack.
